The two-lap method: how toppers finish the syllabus twice before the exam

Ask a hundred top rankers how they prepared and the details differ – but one structure repeats: they finished the syllabus twice. Not once carefully, not three times in panic. Two deliberate laps, each with a different job.

Lap one: learn honestly

The first lap is slow and complete. Every chapter gets three things: the concepts learned, a topic-level quiz taken, and an honest tag – strong, shaky or weak. The tag is the point. A first lap without honest tagging is just watching videos.

Lap two: sharpen selectively

The second lap is not a repeat – it’s triage. Weak topics get relearned. Shaky topics get drilled with mixed-difficulty questions. Strong topics get only maintenance: a quick quiz to confirm they’re still strong. Lap two moves three times faster than lap one because it goes where the marks leak.

The Sigma take

  • Sigma tags every topic automatically from your quiz results, and the revision backlog IS lap two – it queues exactly what needs re-mastering, in order.

Your seat in the exam hall is already waiting.

Rehearse for it every day – lessons, real-pattern mocks and reports that tell you the truth about your preparation.
