NEET 2027: why ‘first Sunday of May’ matters, and how to plan backwards from it
12 August 2026 · TedQu Sigma desk
NTA hasn’t announced the NEET UG 2027 date yet – the notification typically comes around February. But NEET has held one of the most stable slots in Indian testing: the first Sunday of May. For 2027, that’s 2 May – the working assumption every serious aspirant should plan against.
Backwards from 2 May 2027
- March–April 2027 (final 8 weeks): full-length papers only – 180 questions, 200 minutes, real timings. No new topics.
- January–February 2027: second syllabus lap. Weak-topic repair, chapter-mix tests, PYQ marathons.
- September–December 2026: first full lap – every chapter learned, quizzed and logged honestly.
- Now – August 2026: build the system: fixed weekly hours, a planner you trust, a baseline mock to know your true starting point.
The trap of the “announced date”
Every year, a portion of aspirants treats the official notification as the starting gun – and gives away four months to those who started on the expected window. The date has moved by days, not months, for years. Plan on the pattern; adjust on the announcement.
The Sigma take
- The NEET page on this site carries a live countdown to the expected date – and the planner converts whatever’s left into a weekly schedule you can actually follow.
